Garry Jennings, the 2013 Irish Rally Champion, takes the lead after round one of the 2015 national series in his Kumho-shod Subaru Impreza WRC S12B. Despite finishing 38.7 seconds behind the Ford Focus WRC of his old adversary Donagh Kelly, he pulled a win out the bag through accumulating more points by being the fastest of all through the ‘power stage’.
Jennings wasn’t the only one to put our tarmac rally tyres to good use, Chris Armstrong and James Fulton achieved a competitive 7th place overall and also a class win courtesy of their MK11 Ford Escort.
Steve Thompson, Kumho Motorsport said: “You can always count on Garry to put in a competitive performance, and on current form he appears to be a serious contender for overall championship honours. It was also extremely heartening to note that half of the 50 cars competing on the Birr Stages Rally were equipped with Kumho tarmac rally tyres.”
The second round of the Triton Showers National Rally Championship will commence on March 29th and take place in County Roscommon.
